Katee's Project

Katee is working on a Young Woman Personal Progress project. She has written about it on her blog. Here is a link to her blog kateeskicksandgiggles.blogspot.com . I think this is such a great idea and such an opportunity to draw the family together in their common beliefs of faith in Christ.

Fall and Winter Happenings

So as you know, I'm not a frequent blogger. But now that school is out I thought I could catch up. This is the first day of school for Katee.  She is in the sixth grade this year and she has Mrs. Petersen. She just recently had the honor of being the Student of the month. Her teacher sent us a great letter which sang her praises for what and awesome student she is. Because of this honor she got to go to Chuck E. Cheese Pizza and play games with the principal, Dare officer and other children.  It was a great day.Grandma Marion had her 8o something birthday. She still has a sharp mind and a quick whit. She loves and cares for her family deeply. We especially are grateful that she prays for us 3 times a day.  We need all the help we can get.

 Katee started having parties this year and inviting boys to it. They swam in the pool even though it was cold outside. There is a nice group of kids in our neighborhood and they like to play together. I'm glad they can all be friends.

 Katee's 12th birthday was fun. We took her to breakfast and they sang a fun song.

 Jamie made Katee's cake. She has been teaching herself how to work with fondant. She is really good.

 For Halloween we made apple monster mouths with almond teeth and caramel tongues. They were really good.

 It was pretty fun to have family over and party together.

Katee dressed up to do a dance to Thriller at her school.

 Jamie and Nick were pirates and they dressed Alia like a parrot to sit on their shoulders.  Alia was really into waving her arms at the time which was really perfect for a parrot because it looked like she was flapping her wings.

 Jamie made Alia's costume. She is so talented.

 Katee was a pink girl for Halloween and her friend was Little Red Riding Hood.

 Erik celebrated his birthday at our house when they were here at Thanksgiviing time. We gave him a Geo Trax train set and he loves it.

 He is 3 years old now and he is so cute. We love all the big words he can say and how he is so expressive.  We think of him as our freekin genius. We also celebrated Sandy's birthday a little late.  It was wonderful to have them for Thanksgiviing and we enjoyed every second.

 We recently had our family Christmas party. Mom made these snowmen for our centerpieces.

 Neal's family is getting bigger all the time. He has 4 grandchildren now.  They are so precious.

 Mom and Dad are still in their prime. We enjoyed them telling some of their Christmas memories from when they were young.

 Neal took pictures of all the families.  He has a professional set up with back drop and everything. I'm looking forward to getting our pictures back from him.  I will try to post them here. Hannah sang a beautiful Christmas song and Carol accompanied her on the piano. Hannah has a beautiful voice and will be able to do much in life with her talent.

 My brother David and his wife and family are now in Utah. It is awesome to get to see them and their beautiful girls. They sang a song and Michelle did the sign language for it for the talent show. Zack and Delta are the newly weds of the family. They are so cute!

Summer 2010

Okay, So we had a blast this summer! Be warned, there are a ton of pictures. I should not do this to myself or to you, my poor readers, but this is how it is.

We started out the summer with a trip to see Paul, Casandra and Erik for Paul's B-day. We had so much fun.

Jamie and Nick joined us with baby. She really liked the water. At least that's what we think.

I was cook for girls camp. That is the best way to go to girls camp. All the fun with none of the responsibility. There was the little matter of actually having to cook for the girls and leaders, but that was nothing. We enjoyed it! One morning we got up and did our cooking in our pajamas. Served the girls and leaders. Then cleaned the kitchen all in our pajamas. It was very relaxing and so casual.


One problem I had though. On the hike, I got into something I was allergic too. It got on my shirt and boy did I start itching. When I took off the shirt and got a shower it went away. Then later they wanted us to wear our shirts for the pictures and I put it back on. Man, I started to itch again. So then I knew it was on the shirt. I should have just held the shirt up in front of me for the picture. That would have worked.

We had July 4th at our house this year. The kids swam and the adults talked and ate. Then we went down to the bowery to go ice blocking. No pictures of ice blocking, but one of this crazy couple.

Around the 24th Gene had a living history at This is the Place State Park. So we went down there to support him. Katee wanted us to do the pie eating contest, so we did. As you can see I really got into it. Literally!

These two cute grandkids were both dressed in red so I had to take their picture. Their moms are pretty cute too.

In August, we went up to Yellowstone. It was as awesome trip. We went with some friends and they showed us some great things to do up there. So we want to go back soon!

Old Faithful.

The awesome bikeride where we got rained and hailed on and we lived to tell the tale.

Some of the downhills were so steep, you had to walk the bike to be safe. This was the view we did not even expect when we came around one of the corners. Just off the road you could see this. Not Gene,... silly,... the gully!
